HAK ASASI MANUSIA DALAM KONTEKS PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM: MENUMBUHKAN TOLERANSI DAN PENGHARGAAN TERHADAP PERBEDAAN

This study explores the relationship between Islamic Religious Education (IRE) and Human Rights (HR)
in fostering tolerance and respect for diversity. Islam, as a religion of rahmatan lil ‘alamin, emphasizes
justice, equality, and compassion as the foundation of human dignity. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this study examines the integration of human rights values within IRE to strengthen students’awareness of social justice, religious freedom, and respect for cultural differences. The findings reveal that IRE has strategic potential in shaping individuals who not only understand religious doctrines but also internalize universal humanitarian values. However, challenges such as limited teacher competence, cultural biases, and conservative interpretations often hinder the integration of HR values into religious education. Therefore, curriculum reform, teacher training, and community involvement are essential to promote inclusive and humanistic education. By aligning Islamic teachings with universal human rights principles, IRE can play a transformative role in cultivating tolerant, empathetic,and justice-oriented learners. Ultimately, strengthening HR education within IRE contributes to building a peaceful, pluralistic society that honors human dignity.
