Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of karate extracurricular activities in developing disciplined character in children aged 4-6 years at As-Salam IT Kindergarten. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with five children participating in karate extracurricular activities as subjects, along with supporting informants in the form of coaches and accompanying teachers. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that karate extracurricular activities were implemented in a structured manner through opening, prayer and karate oath, warm-up, core exercises, cool-down, evaluation, and closing. The formation of discipline was seen in the children's habits of arriving on time, lining up neatly, greeting, following instructions, obeying rules, praying, and completing activities. The strategy for developing discipline was carried out through the example of coaches, habituation, simple rules, motivation, positive reinforcement, and support from teachers and parents. Karate activities are important as a medium for developing disciplined character that is appropriate to the characteristics of early childhood.
