PERAN PAI MULTIKULTURAL DALAM MEMBENTUK GENERASI TOLERAN DAN BERKEADILAN HAK ASASI MANUSIA

This study aims to analyze the role of multicultural-based Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in shaping a tolerant and justice-oriented generation toward human rights (HR) within educational settings. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research provides an in-depth description of how multicultural values are integrated into curricula, teaching methods, and educational practices in schools. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal that multicultural IRE plays a significant role in fostering students’ attitudes of tolerance, empathy, and respect for cultural and religious diversity. However, the implementation still faces several challenges, including limited teacher competence, a lack of inclusive curriculum design, and social resistance toward diversity. The study recommends strengthening teacher capacity, developing culturally responsive curricula, and providing contextual learning modules. These findings affirm that multicultural IRE has great potential to develop students with inclusive and socially just character traits, while also serving as a foundation for building a harmonious society that upholds human rights and respects diversity.
