Post-Publication Discussion
1. Commitment to Scholarly Dialogue
JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica supports constructive post-publication discussion as an essential component of scholarly communication, research transparency, academic accountability, and the continuous development of research in Islamic Economics and related disciplines. The journal recognizes that the publication of an article does not necessarily conclude scholarly evaluation. Further discussion, critical assessment, and the exchange of evidence-based perspectives may clarify research findings, identify methodological limitations, strengthen theoretical arguments, and enhance the reliability and contribution of published research.
As a scholarly platform focusing on Islamic Economics, Islamic Finance, Islamic Management, Islamic Accounting, Islamic Economic Law, and contemporary economic issues, the journal encourages meaningful academic dialogue that contributes to the advancement of Islamic economic knowledge, institutional practices, and ethical economic governance.
2. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion
Post-publication discussion may address research methodologies, data analysis and interpretation, theoretical and conceptual frameworks, Islamic economic principles, financial models, institutional governance, accounting practices, Sharia compliance, research findings, conclusions, or practical implications of articles published in JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica.
Contributions may include scholarly comments, critical observations, methodological clarifications, alternative interpretations, theoretical reflections, or other substantive discussions relevant to previously published research in Islamic Economics and interdisciplinary fields.
Discussion may also address contemporary developments in Islamic banking, Islamic financial institutions, Islamic capital markets, Islamic social finance, zakat and waqf management, halal industry development, Islamic entrepreneurship, Sharia economic regulation, and sustainable economic development, where these issues are directly relevant to an article published by the journal.
All contributions must demonstrate academic relevance, present a clear scholarly rationale, and be supported by appropriate evidence, reliable data, or relevant academic references where necessary.
3. Submission and Editorial Assessment
Readers, researchers, and academic professionals wishing to comment on an article published in JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica may submit their contributions through the journal's designated submission or communication channels. Submissions should clearly identify the article under discussion, including its title and publication details, and explain the specific issues, arguments, methods, findings, or interpretations being addressed.
The editorial team will assess each submission based on its relevance to the journal's focus and scope, originality, academic quality, factual accuracy, methodological soundness, supporting evidence, and compliance with publication ethics standards.
Where appropriate, submitted comments or scholarly responses may undergo peer review or independent expert assessment to ensure that the discussion meets the journal's academic and ethical requirements.
The journal reserves the right to request clarification or revisions, or to decline submissions that do not satisfy its scholarly, editorial, or ethical standards.
4. Right of Response
To promote fairness, transparency, and balanced scholarly discussion, the authors of the original article may be invited to respond to substantive comments, methodological critiques, or alternative interpretations concerning their published work.
Authors' responses should directly address the academic issues raised, provide relevant supporting evidence or methodological clarification where appropriate, and maintain a professional, objective, and respectful tone.
The editorial team will determine the appropriate format, editorial assessment, and publication process for comments and responses, taking into consideration their academic merit, relevance, and potential contribution to the scholarly record.
The opportunity to respond does not imply that the journal endorses either the original article's conclusions or the arguments presented in subsequent commentary. Editorial decisions will remain independent and evidence-based.
5. Ethical Standards and Professional Conduct
All post-publication discussions must adhere to the principles of academic integrity, objectivity, mutual respect, transparency, and responsible scholarly communication. Contributions should focus on the academic substance of the published work rather than on personal characteristics, institutional affiliations, or unsupported allegations against the authors.
Contributors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their statements, acknowledging relevant academic sources, presenting evidence fairly, and disclosing any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence their commentary.
JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica does not accept defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, intentionally misleading, or otherwise unethical content in post-publication discussions.
Concerns regarding possible research misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or other serious violations of research integrity, should be submitted through the journal's established procedures for handling allegations of research misconduct rather than presented as unverified accusations in scholarly commentary.
The journal may refer to relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when addressing ethical concerns related to post-publication discussion.
6. Publication and Editorial Decisions
Accepted post-publication comments, academic discussions, and author responses may be published in an appropriate format, subject to the journal's editorial policies and publication procedures.
Where applicable, published discussions will include clear bibliographic references and links to the original article to facilitate accessibility, transparency, and contextual understanding.
Editorial decisions will be based on scholarly merit, relevance, supporting evidence, analytical rigor, and compliance with academic ethics rather than on whether a contribution supports, challenges, or offers an alternative interpretation of the conclusions presented in the original publication.
If a post-publication discussion identifies a substantive error or raises credible concerns regarding the reliability, validity, or integrity of a published article, JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica may initiate an additional editorial assessment.
Depending on the findings and the nature of the identified problem, appropriate editorial actions may include requesting clarification from the authors, publishing a correction, issuing an expression of concern, or retracting the article when justified by the available evidence and the journal's publication ethics policies.
7. Transparency and Preservation of the Scholarly Record
JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica is committed to maintaining a transparent, accurate, reliable, and accessible scholarly record. Post-publication discussions, author responses, and related editorial notices will be linked to the relevant publication whenever practicable.
Any editorial action affecting the status, interpretation, or reliability of a published article will be communicated clearly and responsibly, in accordance with applicable publication ethics principles and established editorial procedures.
The journal recognizes that responsible post-publication discussion contributes to the correction of scholarly errors, the clarification of research findings, and the continued development of reliable academic knowledge.
8. Commitment to Continuous Scholarly Improvement
Through post-publication discussion, JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica seeks to encourage critical thinking, intellectual exchange, methodological rigor, theoretical advancement, and continuous improvement in research and scholarly practice within Islamic Economics and related disciplines.
The journal welcomes respectful, constructive, and evidence-based contributions that advance academic understanding, clarify theoretical and empirical claims, identify emerging research issues, and strengthen confidence in the published literature.
By facilitating responsible dialogue after publication, JSE: Jurnal Sharia Economica aims to foster an inclusive and constructive scholarly environment in which research can be critically examined, challenged, clarified, and refined for the benefit of the academic community, Islamic economic institutions, policymakers, and society.
This commitment supports the journal's broader mission of advancing high-quality scholarly knowledge concerning Islamic economic philosophy, Islamic economic thought, Islamic financial institutions, Islamic management, Islamic accounting, Islamic economic law, and contemporary developments in the global Islamic economic landscape.
