Abstract

Human rights discrimination remains a significant challenge in Indonesia’s multicultural society, particularly in issues involving religious, ethnic, and cultural differences. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays an essential role in addressing these problems, yet traditional approaches often fall short in fostering inclusive attitudes. This study analyzes the role of multicultural Islamic Religious Education as a strategy to reduce human rights discrimination. Using a literature review method, this research examines journals, books, and relevant educational policies. The findings indicate that multicultural PAI effectively promotes values of tolerance, justice, and respect for diversity by integrating universal Islamic principles. This approach not only strengthens students’ understanding of human rights but also helps prevent radicalism and social prejudice. However, challenges such as limited teacher competence and resistance from conservative groups still hinder its implementation. With adequate policy support, teacher training, and community collaboration, multicultural PAI has strong potential to create inclusive and equitable religious education.
